A native of Polk County, and a resident of Etowah and Reliance, he was the son of the late Olen and Deava Rymer. He was retired from the Mobil Oil Corporation, was a member of the Reliance Masonic Lodge 636, and the Alhambra Shriners.

He is survived by his wife of 56 years Lynn Stanley Rymer; daughters and sons-in-law Sherry and Don Rogers of Lenoir City, Joyce and Jimmy Simpson of Ten Mile; and son and daughter-in-law Frank and Kim Rymer of Etowah; sister Louise Barnes and husband Robert of Alcoa and brother and sister-in-law Ernest and Kay Rymer of Reliance. Grandchildren are Lisa Fleenor and husband David of Knoxville, Sarah and Dale Rymer of Etowah, Kristi Nealon and husband Tom of Athens; five great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends 5:00-7:00 Thursday at Bordwine Funeral Home. The service will begin with a Masonic service and conclude with a celebration of life service. Family and friends will meet Friday at Green Hill Cemetery for a 10:00 graveside service. Officiating at the graveside service will be Reverend Jeff Wright. Honorary Pall Bearers, or better known as members of "The Gathering", are August Lee, Harold Ramsey, Glen Burger, Marion Woody, Don Taylor, Jim Rome, Jerry Stephens and Wayne Lawson.
