A native of Danville, Virginia and resident of McMinn County for the past 35 years, he was a son of the late Henley and Elsie Tucker Lawhorne. He was preceded in death by three brothers, three sisters, and one grandchild, Christopher Standridge.
Survivors include his wife Hilda Lawhorne of Delano; two daughters and sons-in-law, Anne and Gary Standridge of Ringgold, Ga., and Robin and Dirk Standridge of Etowah; three sons and daughters-in-law, Billy and Debbie Lawhorne of Athens, Steven and Judi Trew of Etowah and Alan Lawhorne of Pikeville; 12 grandchildren, Jeremy Trew, Taylor Trew, Natasha Cargine, Airman First Class Shawn Standridge, Shane Standridge, Brandy Sneed, Justin Standridge, Barry Williams, Crystal Shelton, Dale Lawhorne, Amy Wright and April Baker; 12 great-grandchildren; one brother, Richard Lawhorne of Kingston, Mass.; and sisters-in-law and brother-in-law, Judy Mangrum of Etowah, Maxine Stewart of Etowah, and Joy and Sam Tilley of West Jordan, Utah.
Funeral service will be held at 8 p.m. Monday, Oct. 25, 2010 in the South Chapel with grandsons Barry Williams and Dale Lawhorne officiating. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday prior to the service.
Family and friends will assemble at McMinn Memory Gardens Mausoleum at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 26th for the entombment service.
Bordwine Funeral Home of Etowah is in charge of arrangements.
