Gary Ray Ellis, 65, of Etowah, died Saturday, Feb. 6, 2010 at UT Medical Center in Knoxville. A native of Bradley County and resident of McMinn County for the past 18 years, he was a son of the late Asbury Lawerance and Emaline Fannie Hicks Ellis. He worked at W.H. Camp Co. in Chattanooga as general manager for 26 years, and retired from there. He then founded Ray Hal Company in Etowah where he recently retired. He enjoyed farming, collecting cars, spending time with the Amish, and most of all, his grandkids. Survivors include his wife, Rebecca Ellis of Etowah; one son, Phillip Ellis of Cleveland; one stepson and spouse, Scott and Joy Buckner of Etowah; one stepdaughter and spouse, Teresa and Vince Williams of Etowah; two grandchildren, Harley and Ryder Williams of Etowah; two sisters, Edith Bullard and Rene Cardin, both of Cleveland; and four brothers, Tom, Frank, and Albert Ellis, all of Cleveland, and Alvin Ellis of Etowah. Funeral service will be held at 8 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 9, 2010 in the South Chapel with the Rev. Ronnie Best officiating. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday prior to the service.
Family and friends will assemble at the funeral home at 9:45 a.m. Wednesday and proceed to Shady Grove Cemetery for the 11 a.m. committal service.
