George Dillard age 81 of Etowah passed away Saturday morning, June 25th at Woods Memorial Hospital. George was born in McMinn County on Dec. 23, 1929. He was an employee of Beaunit Corp. and retired from 411 Corp. George was the son of the late George and Ruth Dillard.
He was preceded in death by his parents, listed above, his wife Ruth Bowers Dillard; one son Rickey Dillard; one grandson Brian Green; one brother William Dillard; 2 sisters Ruby L. Dillard and Inez Yoder.
Survivors include 5 daughters and 4 sons-in-law Norma and Billy Green, Annette Dillard, Tammy and Eddie Harris, Karen and Rick West all of Etowah, Patricia and Jim Givens of Sweetwater; 2 sons and daughter-in-law Gary and Shan Dillard of Etowah, Roger Dillard of Etowah; 2 sisters and brother-in-law Barbara and Pat Wilson of Etowah, AnnaMae Jones of Etowah; 10 grandchildren and their spouses: Tracy and David Cooley, Jason Dillard, Tyler West, Dawn Mcnabb and Megan West all of Etowah; Stacy McJunkin of Athens; Stephanie Harris of Maryville; Leslie and Angie Givens; 8 great-grandchildren Dave and Dylan Cooley of Etowah, Christian McJunkin of Athens, Katie Woody Green of Knoxville, Ashley Givens, Bethany Givens, and Chelsey Sofield of Sweetwater and James Riley Shooter Givens of Sweetwater; 1 great-great grandson Cameron Cooley of Etowah; severl nieces and nephews.
Funeral service will be held at 7 p.m. Monday, June 27th at Bordwine Funeral Home. Rev. Robert Hamilton will be officiating. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday prior to the service. Family and friends will assemble at Bordwine Funeral Home at 9 a.m. Tuesday, June 28th and proceed to Conasauga Cemetery for the 10 a.m. committal service. Jason Dillard, Dave and Dylan Cooley, Tyler West, Jimmy and Dallas Givens will serve as pallbearers.
