George R. Rayburn, 84, of Etowah, TN, passed peacefully surrounded by his wife and sons early Tuesday morning, March 19, 2024.

Preceded in death by his parents, Lee and Mickey Rayburn; and eleven siblings, CJ, Bill, Steve, Lucille, Martha, Mary, Elsie, Irene, Shirley, Anne and Miza.

George was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Etowah. He served seven years in the Tennessee National Guard; he coached little league sports in Etowah for many years. George loved the outdoors, gardening, woodworking and his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Survivors include his wife of 63 years, OllieMae Morgan Rayburn; three sons and daughters-in-law, Randy and Becky Rayburn, Tony and Shannon Rayburn and Bo Rayburn; eight grandchildren; and eleven great-grandchildren.

The family would like to thank the wonderful care team of Amedisys Hospice.

Funeral service will be held at 7:00 p.m., Thursday, March 21, 2024 in the chapel of Bordwine Funeral Home with grandson, Rev. Matt Rayburn officiating.

The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m., Thursday prior to the service.

Family and friends will assemble Friday, March 22nd at Green Hill Cemetery for the 11:00 a.m. committal service.
