Obituary

Georgie Belle Crabtree Waldrop, 89, of Riceville, won her battle over the flesh and left it to be with Jesus and her loved ones, surrounded by her family, on December 9, 2010.

A native and lifelong resident of McMinn County, she was a daughter of the late Joseph and Elsie Crabtree.

Georgie Belle was a wonderful wife, mother, sister, grandmother, and friend. Everyone who met her commented on her sweetness. She had a beautiful countenance. Her smile was ever present and her laughter was contagious. She was known for her tight bear hugs, and her desire for everyone to be well fed. Her life is described in Proverbs 31. She was a hard worker and loved it. She literally never complained about anything. She loved her family and more importantly she loved her Lord. She will be greatly missed by everyone who knew her. She was a member of Jones Chapel United Methodist Church, and was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Lester Waldrop; infant daughter, Georgie Elsie Waldrop, whom she now will get to hold for the first time; daughter and son-in-law, Margaret and Ronnie Wampler; son and daughter-in-law, Willard and Wilma Waldrop; three brothers, Charlie, Henry and Tom Crabtree; and four grandchildren.

Survivors include 6 children, Frank Waldrop and wife Ann, of Claxton, Katherine Willis of Claxton, Mary Ellen Shugart and husband Bob, of Claxton, Janie Richesin and husband Wilton, of Sweetwater, Charlcia Baker and husband Robert, of Claxton, and Leonard Waldrop of Claxton, who took care of her so lovingly for so many years; 15 grandchildren, Kenny Waldrop, Melanie Taylor, Dianne Malone, Janet Hyde, Scotty Willis, Danny Willis, Donnie Willis, Mike Wampler, Bill Wampler, Mitchell Shugart, Kim Farris, Mark Richesin, Craig Richesin, Kevin Baker, and Justin Baker; 31 great-grandchildren; 4 great-great-grandchildren; 2 brothers, Jim Crabtree of Benton, and Joe Crabtree of Athens; and very special sister, Stella Clark of Calhoun.

As a witness to her life and her influence on all of her children and grandchildren, her services will conducted by her family.

Funeral service will be held at 7 p.m. Saturday, December 11, 2010 in the South Chapel. Her grandsons, the Rev. Kenny Waldrop and the Rev. Mark Richesin will preach her funeral, and her grandson Danny Willis will sing, and granddaughters Melanie Taylor and Kim Farris will provide the music.

The family will receive friends from 4 to 7 p.m. Saturday prior to the service.

Family and friends will assemble at the funeral home at 1 p.m. Sunday, December 12th, and proceed to Jones Chapel UMC Cemetery for the 2 p.m. committal service. Grandsons, Scotty and Donnie Willis, Mike and Bill Wampler, Mitchell Shugart, Craig Richesin, Kevin and Justin Baker, and Derrick Malone will serve as pallbearers.
