Obituary

Gerald Hamilton, born November 10, 1956, in Etowah, Tennessee, passed away peacefully at his residence on Thursday, May 28, 2026. He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend whose warm spirit and candid nature left an indelible mark on all who knew him.

Gerald was celebrated for his fun-loving personality and his openness; he never met a stranger and was always forthright about what was on his mind. His genuine nature and straightforward honesty were traits that endeared him to many throughout his life.

A skilled tradesman, Gerald was highly respected as both an electrician and plumber across McMinn, Loudon, and Monroe Counties. He took great pride in his work, most notably contributing his expertise to the electrical and plumbing installations at Rarity Bay. His dedication to his craft and community established him as a cornerstone in his field.

Outside of his professional life, Gerald found joy in a variety of hobbies that complemented his energetic and hands-on approach to life. He loved assembling model cars and could often be found tinkering on various projects. Riding motorcycles was one of his favorite pastimes, representing his adventurous spirit and love for freedom on the open road.

Gerald’s family and friends were central to his life. He is lovingly survived by his wife, Shelly Cross; his son, Jeremiah "Jerry" Hamilton; his daughters, Tennessee Denise Hamilton and Lacey Lovell, along with her husband, Jason Lovell. He also leaves behind his sons Johnathan Hamilton and his fiancé Elizabeth, Robert Cross and his wife Tara, and Walker Johnson. His legacy continues through his grandchildren: Taylor Jeremiah (T.J.) and spouse Dymond Hamilton, Arlan Hamilton, Johnathan Hamilton Jr., Savannah Melton, Olivia Melton, and Grayson Melton. As well as several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Ernest and Jean Hamilton, and Lucille Hamilton, as well as his brother Neil Wilson.

The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Saturday, May 30, 2026, at Bordwine Funeral Home.
