Gordon Eugene Newman, 62, of Athens TN, passed away Thursday, July 10, 2014 at Erlanger Medical Center.

He was a native and Lifelong resident of McMinn County and son of Zelma Newman and the late James Howard Newman. He retired from CSX Railroad and was of the Baptist Faith. Proceded in death by his father; and grandson, Andrew Land.

Survivors include his wife, Tina Newman of Athens; daughters and sons-in-law, Sarah Newman and Kyle Holder of Etowah, Carrie and Allen Land of Etowah, Stephanie and Justin Hensley of Madisonville; step-children and spouses, Lisa and Brian Williamson, Falisha Abner, Shawn Abner and Erica Parker all of Kentucky; Mother, Zelma Newman of Etowah; grandchildren, David and Clara Beth Land, Skylar Hensley, Allyssa and Brian Jr. Williamson and Reagan Abner; 2 sisters, Susan Newman of Englewood, Nancy Newman of Maryville; 1 brother and sister-in-law, Steve and Rossann Newman of

Funeral service will be held at 7:00 p.m., Saturday, July 12, 2014 in the South Chapel of Bordwine Funeral Home with Rev. Larry Moses and Rev. Jimmy Long officiating. The family will receive friends from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m., Saturday prior to the service. Family and friends will assemble at 1:00 p.m., Sunday, July 13 at the funeral home and proceed to Mars Hill Cemetery for the 2:00 p.m. committal service.
