Grady G. Smith, 70, of the Springtown community in Reliance, died Saturday, June 23, 2012, at his residence. A native of Polk County, he was a retired mechanic and a member of Clay Hill Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his mother and father, Ernest Eugene Smith and Geneva Thompson Smith; one brother, Bob Smith; and one granddaughter, Cindy Marie Smith. Survivors include his wife, Jo Ann Burton Smith of Springtown; his children, Grady Gene Smith II of Athens, and Charles Leon Smith of Springtown; grandchildren, Brittany Smith, Christopher Smith and Mathew Smith; and one brother and sister-in-law, Delbert and Narvelene Smith of Etowah. Funeral services will be 8 p.m. Monday in the South Chapel of Bordwine Funeral Home with the Rev. Terry Daniels and the Rev. Roy Hogan officiating. Family and friends will assemble at the funeral home at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday and will proceed to Campground Cemetery for the 11 a.m. burial. Pallbearers will be members of West Polk Fire and Rescue. Honorary pallbearers will be Jim Payne, Mike Grant, Frazier Smith, Harold Webb, Bruce Aulds, Ricky Bell, Michael Thompson and Larry Smith. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
