Harold Emerson Hicks, age 67, of Athens, passed away Thursday, January 8, 2015 at Parkwest Medical Center following a lengthy illness. He was born April 25, 1947 to the late Estel and Josephine Hicks, formerly of Athens. He was of the Baptist faith and a member of Meadow Fork Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by one sister: Linda Hicks; and several aunts and uncles.

He is leaving behind to cherish his memory his loving wife of 44 years: Brenda Buckner Hicks of Athens; daughter and son-in-law: Dana and Keith Henry of Athens, TN; son: Dewayne Hicks; 4 grandsons: Micheal Rutledge, Tyler Burger, Richard Warfield, all of Athens, and Cody Burger of Charleston; 1 granddaughter: Cassidy Henry of Athens; sister and brother-in-law: Shirley and Rev. Hoyt Melton of Athens; brother and sister-in-law: R.L. and Joan Hicks of Athens.

Funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, January 11, 2015 at Meadow Fork Baptist Church with Rev. Hoyt Melton officiating. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., Saturday, January 10, 2015 at the funeral home. Interment will follow the service on Sunday at Meadow Fork Cemetery. Keith Henry, Micheal Rutledge, Cody Burger, Tyler Burger, Lee Hicks, and David Melton will serve as pallbearers.
