Helen Ann (Bunch) Smith (retired teacher), 80, of Etowah, passed away on Monday, December 31, 2018, at her home in Etowah.

Born in Lynn, Arkansas, Helen was a resident of Etowah for the past 49 years. She taught at Mountain View Elementary School, retiring in 2005. She was preceded in death by her husband, Watty Smith; parents, Lawrence and Florene Bunch; and brother, Jerry Bunch.

Survivors include sister-in-law, JoAnn Bunch; one brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Donnie and Pam Smith; two daughters and sons-in-laws, J.T. and Tammy Gard and Bob and Kim Cantley; two sons and daughters-in law, Jerry and Beth Smith and Eric and Amy Newman; 13 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.     A special thank you to her caregivers, Candy Hooper, Chasity Croft, and Tonia Johnson, and Sherry Denton.

A funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, January 5th in the chapel of Bordwine Funeral Home with son-in-law Bob Cantley officiating. Interment will follow service in Green Hill Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.  Saturday prior to the service at the funeral home.
