Helen Lee Tullock, 88, of Delano passed away peacefully, Wednesday evening, in her home surrounded by her pictures, memories, and her loved ones. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Jack; her parents, B.C. and Nora Lee; her sister, Mary Lee Warren; her brothers, Hubert, Forrest and Dewart Lee; and her nephew, Walter Warren. She is survived by her daughter, Regina Tullock; her sister, Barbara King; her sisters-in-law, Jeanne and Dot Lee; her brother-in-law, W.C. Warren; and many nieces and nephews.She graduated from Karns High School in Knox County; The University of Tennessee, Knoxville. At Karns High School, she met the love of her life, Jack, after the second World War, they made their home in Cleveland, TN. While teaching in the Cleveland City Schools, they were instrumental in starting the Special Education Program. Jack started the ERM Classes (a forerunner of today's Resource Classes) and Helen the Speech Program. She was active for many years in the Delta Kappa Gamma, and honorary society for women educators, serving many years in various capacities.In retirement she and Jack were fortunate to travel extensively, visiting all continents, except Australia. Helen loved to go and experience other cultures. She and Jack had eighteen years together to travel, and after Jack's passing, she and her daughter enjoyed traveling several more years.She was a member of Wetmore Baptist Church, her faith was very important to her. She began teaching Sunday School at the age of 15 and sang in the choir until her health restricted her activities. For many years, she served as the church clerk at Wetmore.The family will receive friends from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m., Sunday, March 11, 2012 at Wetmore Baptist Church, Delano. The funeral will follow at 3 p.m., with Rev. Edward Earl officiating. The Interment will proceed at Delano Cemetery following the funeral.In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Alzheimer's Associations, P.O. Box 10088, Knoxville, TN 37939-9910
