Henry "T-Model" Culberson, 83, of Etowah, passed away Thursday, April 3, 2014 at his home with his daughter Dianne and his granddaughter Shauna by his side.
He is in the arms of his wife Jewell, his daughter, Tammy is by his side and great- grandson Zaryn, is waiting to go feed the cows.
He lived simply and quietly, gave everything and loved fiercely. He was a man to be admired for how he took care of his family. He had many talents and a willingness to do what it takes. His first job was a grave digger at Green Hill Cemetery. He lived life on the edge by running moonshine in a cop car, worked at Hamby's Gulf Service Station. He would work for days if needed for the U.S. Forest Service as a firefighter; he retired from J.M. Huber in 1992 and from Wal-mart until 2012. T-Model called himself a gentleman farmer, raising beef to sale to friends and family, before it was cool, "organic." He was also very proud to be a part of the Republican Party and participated in elections working at the polling sites. Those who knew him knew he loved to see people and tell stories. Although his first love was his wife Jewell, his second would be known as coaching the Hillbillies for many years. He cherished the players and called them all his girls.
He was preceded in death by his wife Jewell Lee Culberson, daughter Tammy Kay Millaway and his great-grandson Zaryn Chancy Stewart.
He is survived by his daughters and sons-in-law, Karen and Rick Lockhart of Decatur, AL, Dianne and Danny Jenkins of Etowah and son and daughter-in-law, Mitchell and T.R.
