Herbert Hoover Ervin , age 79, of Etowah, TN, passed away Thursday, November 21, 2013 at NHC Healthcare of Athens. He was a native of the Mt. Vernon Community and lived in Etowah most of his life. He was a member of Zion Hill Baptist Church and was retired from the US Navy after 20 years of service and he served during the Korean conflict. Hoover was the son of the late Chester and Nellie Ervin. He is preceded in death byhis wife, Linda Ervin; 3 sisters, Vivian Morgan, Stump McNabb and Katy Norris; and brother, Burt Ervin.

Survivors include twosons and daughter-in-law;Pat and Sherri Ervin and Scott Ervin both of Etowah;two grandsons;Jacob and Daulton Ervin; and several brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews and other relatives.

Funeral service will be held at 7:00 p.m., Saturday, November 23, 2013 at Zion Hill Baptist Church withPastor Justin Brown officiating.Family will receive friends at the church from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m., Saturday,prior to the service.Family and friends will assemble Sunday, November 24th at Eleazar Cemetery for the 2:00 p.m. committal service. John Webb and Deacons of Zion Hill Baptist Church will serve as pallbearers.
