Herbert Lee Fain, 88, of Athens, died Monday, July 26, 20109 at Life Care Center of Athens. A native and resident of McMinn County and former resident of Monroe County, he was a son of the late William and Carrie Fain. He was a watch repairman for Jernell Jewelry for many years, and then opened up his own repair ship, Fain Jewelry Store. He loved to go fishing. He was a member of Victory Baptist Church, and had attended Valley Road Baptist Church for the last several years. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Ethel Tallent Fain; 12 brothers and sisters, Effie Fain Eaton, Henley Fain, Elbert Fain, Addie Fain, Mamie Fain Benson, Ross Fain, Nola Fain Plemmons, Neva Fain Plemmons, Fannie Fain Martin, Ellie Fain Eaton and infant brothers, James and Freddie Fain; and two step-brothers, Austin Tallent and Cecil Tallent. Survivors include one son and daughter-in-law, Jerry Lee and Inez Evans Fain of Athens; two granddaughters and spouses, Christy Fain Baker and husband Roy, and Kathy Fain Vincent and husband Tony, all of Athens; four great-granddaughters, Cierra and Cheyenne Baker and Tia and Autumn Vincent; second wife of 25 years, Louise Fain of Athens; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, July 29, 2010 in the South Chapel with the Rev. David Coffman and the Rev. Doug Green officiating. Burial will follow the service at Fain Cemetery. Randy Evans, Harold Eaton, Daniel Tallent, Arnold Tallent, Jackie Plemmons and Beecher Tallent will serve as pallbearers. Dale Tallent will be honorary pallbearer.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, July 28th at the funeral home.
