Howard H. Fugate, 89, of Etowah, died Friday, May 7, 2010 at Rhea Medical Center in Dayton, Tenn. A native of Rhea County and resident of Etowah for most of his life, he was a son of the late Zack and Cora Fugate. He was prece3ded in death by his wife, Dorothy Wilson Fugate; six brothers, Basil, Arvin, William, Charlie, Garland and Luther Fugate; and two sisters, Dessie Hill and Rebecca Hill. Survivors include two sons, Larry Fugate of Lenoir City and Kyle Fugate of Alexandria, Va.; seven grandchildren, CeCe Denice Fugate Holt, David Mathew Fugate, Susan Elizabeth Fugate, Elizabeth "Libby" Anne Fugate, Emma Jane Fugate, Eliot "Eli" Wilson Fugate, and Margaret "Maggie" Ellen Fugate; and two great-grandchildren, Raleigh Alton Holt IV and Jackson Osborne Holt. Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, May 10, 2010 in the South Chapel with the Rev. Allen Bates officiating. Burial will follow the service at McMinn Memory Gardens with military honors. Luther Jr. Fugate, Robert Wilson, Wayne Boofer, James Boofer, Wayne Davis and Rual Watson will serve as pallbearers. Ralph Land, T.R. Moates and J.R. Cooper will be honorary pallbearers.
The family will receive friends from 5 until 7 p.m. Sunday, May 9th at the funeral home.
