Howard "Doc" Roberts, 86, of Etowah, died Friday, Jan. 18, 2013, at Etowah Health Care. A native and resident of Etowah most of his life, he was a retired concrete finisher and very well known in the community. He was of the Baptist faith.A son of the late Conway and Marie Roberts, he was preceded in death by one son, Danny R. Roberts, killed February 4, 1970, in Vietnam and one brother, Harold Roberts of Monroe County.Survivors include his wife of 66 years, Ruby Roberts of Etowah; daughter and son-in-law, Diana and Ray Harrill of Etowah, TN; granddaughter and spouse, Missy and Jeff Lynn of Niota, TN; sister, Estelle Roberts of Englewood, TN; two special nieces, Darlene Daniel and Susan Harper; loving caregiver Katie and several other nieces and nephews. Graveside services will be 2 p.m. Sunday, January 20, 2013, at Shady Grove Cemetery with Paul Williams officiating.There will be no formal visitation.Pallbearers are Chris Daugherty, Ray Harrill, Leon Roberts, Calvin Farley, Jeff Lynn, and Jared Lynn. Honorary pallbearers are Clayton Roberts, Gary Roberts, Brennan Golden, Brock Golden, Johnny Cole and Donnie Cole.
