Obituary

Hoyt Danny Brown, 69, of Delano, passed away Sunday evening, June 11, 2017 at his home, after a 20-year courageous battle with pulmonary fibrosis and recent heart failure.

Danny was born on the Savannah Farms near Delano, Tn. on April 25, 1948. He never really left the farm since he bought part of the farm and raised his family there. He loved his land with his catfish pond and all types of nut trees and blueberry bushes. He loved hunting and spent many hours with his grandson, Colten, and his beloved lab, Black Dog. They made many trips, but one he talked most about was to Cheyenne, Wyoming. He never met a stranger on these trips and talked to anyone and everyone.

Danny was employed at Bowater Paper Mill for 27 years until his disability. He loved every minute there, and talked about how much he wanted to work but his health would not permit it.

He was a tender hearted man who loved his lab, Black Dog, and we all knew that Black Dog loved and protected him. He had a special place in his heart for his grandson, Colten, who he adopted as his son. He was always there for Colten and loved him dearly.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Jack Daniel and Margaret Virginia Jones Brown; daughter, Melanie Brown Kersey; the mother of his children, Patti Cooley Smith; and nephew, David Lynn Smith and niece, Kathy Dianne Nieding.

He is survived by his son and caregiver, Jimmy and Melisa Brown; grandson, Colten Brown; granddaughter, Courtney Cain; and one great granddaughter; sister, Vivian Price of Cleveland; very special friend, Phyllis Dianne Parks; and constant companion, Black Dog.

According to his wishes, he will be cremated with no formal service. Donations in memory of Danny Brown and Black Dog may be given to "SHARP" Safe Haven Animal Rescue Program, P.O. Box 972, Benton, TN 37307 or 423-299-3640, www.sharprescue.org.
