Obituary

Hubert R. Armstrong, age 104, of Niota, TN, formally of Englewood, TN passed away on Sunday, March 31, 2024.

Hubert was a WWII Veteran, serving with the aviation and combat engineers. He was at the Battle of the Bulge, Normandy, St. Low and was stationed in England, France, Germany and his last occupation was Czechoslovakia. He had obtained the rank of sergeant by the end of his time of service.

Hubert owned and operated a saw mill and pulp wood business for many years. After leaving his pulp wood business, he worked at Eureka Garment Company until he retired at 77. He was a hardworking and respected man and some folks from the Liberty Hill Community said Hubert was their hero.

Preceded in death by his wife, Laura Mae Rucker Armstrong; granddaughter, Kimberly Rucker; grandson, Chris Armstrong; father and mother, Jess and Minnie Armstrong; sister, Myrtle Casteel; niece, Yvonne Carroll; son-in-law, Stanley Cooper.

He is survived by his children, Brenda Cooper, Janice Casteel, James Armstrong (Dolores), Darlene Bryant (Mike) and Carolyn Armstrong; grandchildren, Devon Richeson, Verna McKeehan (Eric), Michael Casteel, Lisa Paul (Brant), Jason Webb (Amber) and Chris's wife, Syvonia; great-grandchildren, Brady Richeson (Jennifer), Logan Richeson, Ashley Richeson, Evan McKeehan, Seth Armstrong (Ciara), Lee Armstrong, Barrett Paul, Abby Paul, Bryson Webb and Marlie Webb; great-great-grandchildren, Jace, Ellie, Kaylie Richeson, Elora Crowder, Aubree, Mirakyl, Oaklynn, Addilynn and Riverlynn Armstrong; Nephew, Tommy Casteel; great-nephews, Matt and Ben Casteel.

Funeral service will be held at 7:00 p.m., Wednesday, April 3, 2024, in the chapel of Bordwine Funeral Home with longtime family friend Johnny Jenkins officiating.

The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m., Wednesday, prior to the service.

Family and friends will assemble Thursday, April 4th at Conasauga Cemetery for the 11:00 a.m. committal service.

The family would like to give a sincere thank you to Dr. Chris Shamblin, Dr. Thomas Layman, Dr. Sam Keenan and the wonderful nurses and aids at Sweetwater Hospital that cared for our daddy.
