Obituary

Hubert Porter Green, 87, of Decatur, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, February 13, 2010 at Woods Memorial Hospital. A native and lifelong resident of McMinn County, he was a son of the late Clarence and Beulah Green. He was a deacon and Sunday school teacher of New Bethel Baptist Church for 60 years and was a well known master carpenter on mainly the finest homes in the area for over fifty-two years. He was a loving father, grandfather and great-grandfather. In his last years he was happy being "Papaw Porter" and being a part of his great-grandkids life. He will be sadly missed by all his family for being a great friend, dad and grandfather. He was preceded in death by his parents, listed above; his loving wife of fifty-two years, Mary Katheryn Green; two brothers, Paul "P.O." and R.L. Green and one sister, Mildred Green.

Survivors include one son, Roger Green of Etowah, TN; two grandsons and granddaughter-in-law, Jason Green and Kevin and Stephanie Green all of Etowah, TN; one granddaughter, Angie Russell of Polk Co., TN and four great-grandchildren, Austin, Chloe, Dakota and Kason.

Funeral service will be held at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 17, 2010 in the South Chapel with the Rev. Kenneth Gardner and Rev. Wayne Fritts officiating. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday prior to the service. Family and friends will assemble at New Bethel Cemetery at 11 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 18th for the committal service.
