"Punk" Mcclary
April 1, 2025
Hugh Franklin McClary "Punk" 89, of Etowah, TN passed away on Tuesday, April 1, 2025.
Preceded in death by his parents, Morris and Reba McClary; his son, Robbie McClary; sister, Marcia Ann McClary Chastain; and his trusty side kick, Hank.
He retired from Bowater after 38 years. His passions were hunting, fishing, and cooking, gardening and his hunting dogs. Early to bed and early to rise. He always cooked a big breakfast and supper. His specialties were many, Homemade biscuits and gravy to fish and fixins, deer, rabbit, frog legs, bear to poke salad to tater cakes. Lover of sweets, especially, chocolate pie and sweet potatoes. The man loved his country food. Setting down at his table was always a treat. Every time you walked through the door he would say, "you hungry"? I've got (XYZ), fix you a plate; take you some home with you; or he would call, "I'm cooking, Yall come over here and eat.
He and his trusty companion (Hank), would take two rides a day through the country. Two or three times a week, down to his sister, Marcia Ann's "AKA" Marc Ann to visit. They talked daily and had a special bond. He hurt when he lost her, but was broken when he lost his son Robbie. He never had a sparkle in his eye after that.
He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Jacklynn McClary; son, Todd McClary (Jason); step-son, Wes Johnson; grandchildren, Heath McClary (Judith), Brittany McClary (Richmon, Autumn, Reagan) and Xander McClary. His expected great-grandson and namesake, Frankie McClary due in August. His three nephews, Kent Chastain (Sherry), Russ Chastain (Jenny), Abe Chastain (Rhonda); several great nieces and nephews.
We all find comfort in Knowing that he had a long awaited and great reunion with Robbie.
Until we all meet again, we will remember and cherish all of the good times.
A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, April 5, 2025 in Green Hill Cemetery with Rev. Dr. Katie Morgan-Harper officiating.
