Ima Jean Hughes, 89, of Etowah passed away on Wednesday, September 24, 2025.

Jean was a long-time member of ST. Paul's United Methodist Church; she was also a member of the Eastern Stars. Jean retired from the McMinn County Health Department where she was the office manager. Before working at the health department, she was a substitute school teacher.

She is preceded in death by her husband, J.R. Hughes; parents, James C. and Elise Pangle; brother and sister-in-law, James F. and Ruby Pangle; father and mother-in-law, O.R. and Annie Hughes.

She is survived by her sons and daughter-in-law, Steve and Carol Hughes and Richard Hughes; grandchildren, Phillip George, Katie and Husband Taylor Creasman, and Cody Hughes; Great grandchildren, Maverick Creasman and Lillian Hughes; She also cherished Aiden Leger, Haley Leger and Mckenzee McClure as though they were her own grandchildren; several cousins, nieces and nephews.

Family and friends will assemble at Green Hill Cemetery on Saturday, September 27, 2025 for the 12:00 p.m. graveside service, with Pastor Angela Akers officiating.
