Ira Emory DeBord, 86, of Etowah, TN passed away on Tuesday, May 14, 2013 at his residence. He was a son of the late Will and Mae DeBord. A Veteran of the U.S. Army/National Guard, and he served his Country in the Korean War where he was awarded the good conduct Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, the United Nations Service Medal, Korean Service Medal and the Combat Infantryman Badge. Preceded in death by his brothers, Earl and George DeBord. Avid Outdoorsman, he loved horses and loved playing his guitar. Ira was a loving husband, father and a devout Christian. Survivors include, his wife, Barbara Hopson DeBord; children and spouses, Ricky and Patricia DeBord of Etowah, Rebecca and John Cole of Athens, Tom and Carlessa DeBord of Englewood, and Rhonda and Larry Reed of Englewood; 10 grandchildren, Brandy Billings, Josh, Jessica, Ashley and Alyssa DeBord, Autumn Rollo, Madison Cole, Nick and Nathan Reed and Caleb DeBord; 7 great-grandchildren, Gabby, Gracie and Ethan Billings, Journey Rollo, Dustin and Caitlyn Hunt and Dalton Parsons; brother and sister-in-law, Emmett and the late Helen DeBord; sisters and brothers-in-law, Ira's twin sister, Opal and the late Jim Bates, Jean and the late Ernest Begley. The family would like to express our sincere appreciation to Caris Health Care for the Loving and compassionate Hospice care they provided. Funeral Service will be held at 8:00 p.m., Thursday, May 16, 2013, in the South Chapel of Bordwine Funeral Home with Pastor Pat McCulley and Rev. Joe Hatcher officiating. Family will receive friends from 6 to 8, Thursday prior to the service. Family and friends will assemble at the funeral home, Friday, May 17th at 12:00 noon, and proceed to Cog Hill Cemetery for the 1:00 p.m., committal service with Military Honors. Pallbearers will be Caleb DeBord, Josh DeBord, Nick Reed, Nathan Reed, Chandler Rollo and Brian Billings.
