Jack Raper, 84, of Englewood, passed away Saturday, October 8, 2022 at his home surrounded by his family.
He was a member of Zion Hill Baptist Church where he served as a deacon for 61 years, as well as a member of the Englewood Masonic Lodge.
A native of McMinn County, he was a son of the late Chester and Hazel Irons Raper and was also preceded in death by brothers, Dale, Dean, and Tom Raper, as well as his best friend and brother-in-law, Lynn Brown.
He is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Gracie Raper of Englewood; daughter and son-in-law, Melinda and Scott Roddy of Birmingham; two sons and daughters-in-law, Jeff and Lori Raper of Englewood, Mark and Angie Raper of Murfreesboro; special nephew and spouse Tracy and Angela Brown
of Etowah; four granddaughters; four grandsons; five great-grandchildren;
sisters-in-law Carrie Brown, Princess Reed and Diane Raper, one sister and brother-in-law, Portia and Scott Anderson of Athens; brother and sister-in-law, Ross and Andrea Raper of Athens; and several special nieces and nephews.
Funeral service will be held at 7:00 p.m., Wednesday, October 12, 2022 in the chapel of Bordwine Funeral Home with Pastor Justin Brown officiating.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, prior to the service.
Family and friends will assemble at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, October 13 th at the funeral home and proceed to McMinn Memory Gardens for the 11:00 a.m. committal service.
