James Alex Moses, 84, of Athens, TN passed away Wednesday, June 10, 2020 at Athens Place Senior Living.

He was born June 1, 1936 in Athens, TN to the late Lee Charles and Eva Mae Moses; he was graduated from Madisonville High School and from Hiwassee Junior College; having played football at both schools; later he graduated Tennessee Wesleyan College.

As a member of the 134 ^th Air Refueling Group of The Tennessee Air National Guard, Alex Honorably Served on Active Duty in the United States Air Force in Germany, November 1, 1961 to August 15, 1962.

He was employed by Colonial Baking Company; he operated the Bakery Store in Athens, TN for many years. He had a host of friends, most who remember him as the giving man. He always had something for children, and adults. He was a member of Watson Chapel Church which he attended and supported as long as his health permitted. He very much enjoyed spending time with his friends on the golf course. He was a golfer.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by the love of his life, his daughter, Jennifer Moses; brothers, Charles Lee Moses of Madisonville, TN, Ronnie Moses of Olive Branch, MS; brothers-in-law, Wayne Coley and Larry Bryan; sister-in-law, Barbara Moses of Madisonville, TN.

He is survived by a brother, Clarence "Kernie" Moses and wife, Joynel of Greeneville, TN; sisters, Imogene Coley of Madisonville, TN, Lorene Bryan of Etowah, TN; sister-in-law, JoAnn Moses of Olive Branch, MS; a special nephew and caregiver, Darrell Moses and wife, Jan; many special nieces, nephews and cousins.

The family extends special appreciation to the administration, staff and friends of Athens Place Senior Living.

Because of the Covid-19 virus a private graveside service will be held Saturday, June 13 ^th in Green Hill Cemetery.

Steve Bryan, Eathon Bryon, Rod Coley, Randy Coley, Darrell Moses and Mark Moses will serve as pallbearers.
