James Cherry, 54, of Etowah, TN passed away Thursday, November 20, 2025.
His daughter, Hannah, says,
"There are a few things I want you to know about my daddy. He was known as husband, dad, grandad to Raley James (his first grand baby) and G-Paw to the Memphis grand-pets. My mom would say he was a caretaker, provider, and protector. He was her solid rock. My brother would say he was an avid golfer but had an average handicap. More than that though, he was his north star and always knew exactly what to say to reassure him. I would say my daddy was always 15 minutes away from anywhere no matter where he was. He was consistent and steady. He had a grit and determination about him that he instilled in me at a very young age. I know he loved God and that he knew Jesus as his personal Lord and Savior and that is where he will be until I see him again."
He is preceded in death by his father, Larry Cherry; maternal grandparents, Warren "Ferg" Long and Jimmie Long; paternal grandparents; Kenneth and Lily Cherry; father-in-law, Dale Tallent.
He is survived by his loving wife, Jessica Cherry; son and daughter-in-law, Hayden and Nicole Cherry; daughter and son-in-law, Hannah and Logan McCracken; granddaughter, Raley James McCracken; mother, Kathy Cherry; siblings, Tommy Cherry, Candy Cherry, and Nancy Carr; mother-in-law, Lana Tallent.
