James Dennis Daugherty, 58, of Athens, died Wednesday, April 14, 2010 at his residence. A native and lifelong resident of Athens, he was a son of the late Walter Aster and Trula Cook Daugherty. He was a member of West End Baptist Church, and was a member of the N.R.A. He was retired from TVA, and had worked as a policeman and a fireman in Etowah. Survivors include three sisters and two brothers-in-law, Clota and Ernest Mason, Gloria and Jerry McMinn, and Pat Keeton, all of Etowah; and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. Family and friends will assemble at Bordwine Funeral Home at 10 a.m. Saturday, April 17, 2010 and proceed to Liberty Hill Cemetery for an 11 a.m. graveside service, with Dr. Harold Curtis officiating.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, April 16th at the funeral home.
