James A. Davis, Jr., 70, of Etowah, died Monday morning, March 8, 2010 at Erlanger Medical Center in Chattanooga. A native of Chicago, Ill., and resident of Etowah for the past 22 years, he was a son of the late James Arville Davis, Sr., and Helen Gagala Davis. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, and was preceded in death by a daughter, Ellen Davis; and a sister, Carole Barr. Survivors include his wife of 50 years, Evelyn Davis of Chicago, Ill.; one daughter, Jill Nystrom of Cumming, Ga.; two sons and daughter-in-law, Jeff and Dawn Davis of New Lenox, Ill., and Jim Davis of Wilmington, Ill.; 4 grandchildren, Wade Davis, Max Nystrom, Mallory Nystrom, and Katie Nystrom; one sister and brother-in-law, Candace and David Love of Camden, Tenn.; one brother and sister-in-law, Thomas Wayne and May Davis of Lowell, Ind.; one brother-in-law, Gerald Barr of Palos Hills, Ill.; and several nieces and nephews.

A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, March 11, 2010 at Conasauga Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 12:30 to 1:45 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home prior to the service.
