James Edward "Ed" Davis, 90, of Goodsprings Community, passed away February
14, 2012, at U.T. Medical Center in Knoxville, TN. A native of McMinn County and resident of Goodsprings Community, he was proceeded in death by his parents, William Edward and Marjorie Prince Davis; one sister, Alice Davis Clinger; and three brothers, Fred, John, and Julius Davis He served three years in the U.S. Army in the European Theater during World War II serving with the 105th Combat Engineers attached to the 30th Division. Ed worked as a policeman in Etowah during the 1950's and as a carpenter during the remaining years. Survivors include his wife, Edna Ross Davis of Goodsprings Community; one son and daughter-in-law, Jeffery Ross and Rebecca Lynn Davis of Goodsprings Community; one granddaughter, Christa LeAnne Davis of Knoxville; two sisters and brother-in-law, Eldora Davis Burke and spouse, Jim of Riceville and Betty Davis Pullen of OH; one brother and sister-in-law, Chester and Lucille Davis of Chattanooga; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral service will be held Thursday, February 16, 2012 at 7:00 p.m., in the South Chapel, of Bordwine Funeral Home with Rev. Glen Gamble officiating. The family will receive friends Thursday prior to the service. Family and friends will assemble Friday, February 17, 2012 at Goodsprings Cemetery for the 11:00 a.m., committal service. Carroll Ross, Doyle McNabb, Gary London. Wil Simonds, Dennis Simonds, Meryl Hampton, Bobby Davisand Trey Bates will serve as pallbearers. Dyson Simonds and Isiah Bates will serve as honorary pallbearers. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to American Diabetes Association, Memorial and Honor Program, PO Box 11454, Alexandria, VA 22312.
