April 23, 2021
James "Jamie" Edward Miller, Jr., 56, of Etowah, TN, found peace and passed away after a valiant battle with glioblastoma multiforme (GBM) on Friday, April 23 rd , 2021.
Born in Jennings, Louisiana, Jamie graduated from Lake Arthur High School, earned a scholarship through the McNeese State University band (trumpet) and completed his Bachelor of Science in Engineering in 1987. Embedded in the oil and gas industry as a Quality Director, Jamie's career took him all over the world. He loved to tell (and re-tell) the stories of his life and travels (Louisiana, Texas, Mississippi, South Africa, Russia, South Korea, and most recently, Saudi Arabia).
An avid sportsman, hunter and fisherman, Jamie loved the great outdoors. He treasured every morning he could climb in a deer stand and long afternoons spent fishing on his boat. More than anything, though, he loved to be home with the love of his life and wife of 31 years, Marion Holly Terrell Miller.
Holly, who survives him, will care for the majestic 96 acre property they own together in Etowah, Tennessee--Miller's Red Top Ridge. Loyal canine companions Buddy and Toots will patrol the property in his honor. Jamie is also survived by daughter, Ashley Terrell Pierce Doyal and husband, Brian, daughter, Elizabeth Ann Pierce and partner Matthew Daniels, son, Caleb Martin Miller, daughter, Heather Miller Taylor and husband, Matthew. His precious grandchildren, Ruby and Franklin Doyal, will miss Pop dearly. He was so proud and anxiously awaiting the birth of his third grandbaby, Heather and Matthew's daughter, Lennon James Taylor, due this fall.
In Louisiana, Jamie is also survived by his loving mother, Linda Gay Tarver Miller; sisters, Marcia Lynn Miller Whitlow and husband, Jerry, Gayla Lea Miller Istre and husband Dwayne. He also leaves behind nieces, nephews, cousins and other loving family.
He was predeceased by father, James Edward Miller, Paternal grandmother, Mecille Thelma Howard Miller, Paternal grandfather, Willie Miller, Maternal grandmother, Frances Idell Robert Tarver, Maternal grandfather, Louis Napoleon Tarver, and nephew, Brandon James Whitlow.
A funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m., Wednesday, April 28, 2021, in the chapel of Bordwine Funeral Home with Pastor Wayne Hickman officiating. The family will receive friends from 11:00 to 1:00 p.m., Wednesday, prior to the service.
