James David Rayburn, 69, of Etowah, TN, entered the presence of his Savior on Saturday, August 12, 2023, at the University of Tennessee Medical Center.

Preceded in death by parents James Millard and Ella Jane "Goobe" Rayburn.

David was a faithful member of North Etowah Baptist Church, serving as a Deacon for many years. He was retired from CSX Railroad. He was a seventh-degree black belt in Isshin-Ryu Karate and taught many students throughout the years. David had also become a talented painter in the style of Bob Ross. His most treasured moments were spent on the river or in the mountains.

Survivors include wife of 48 years, Susan Rayburn; son and daughter-in-law, Jonathan and Hailey Rayburn; grandson, Fisher Rayburn; brother and sister-in-law, Tim and Susan Rayburn of Marion, NC; sister-in-law and husband, Sharon and David Morgan; brother-in-law and wife, Scott and Angela Thompson; special nephew and wife, Matthew and Hannah Morgan; many cousins, nieces, nephews, and extended family members; very special friends, Dennis and Linda Bordwine; and many friends in the martial arts community.

Funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, August 19, 2023 in the chapel of Bordwine Funeral Home with Pastor Randy Ellis officiating.

The family will receive friends from 12:00 to 2:00 p.m. prior to the service.

Interment will follow the service in New Bethel Cemetery.
