James O. Stuart, 80 of Cleveland, TN went home to his Lord and Savior Sunday, August 26, 2018 at his home. He was retired from TDOT after more than 30 years of service. He was a longtime member, song leader and youth choir leader of Maple Springs Baptist Church.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Oren and Ellie Stuart; and brother, Ernie Stuart.

Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Bernice Stuart; son, Randy Stuart; daughter and son-in-law, Sharon and Michael Gates; grandchildren, Misty Earwood "Stacy", Rachael Gates, Jeremiah, Jordan and Andrew Stuart, Samantha and Erika; sisters, Florine Hammons, Josephine Lowe, June Aldridge "Tom"; many nieces, nephews, cousins and his church family.

Funeral service will be held at 7:00 p.m., Thursday, August 30, 2018 at Maple Springs Baptist Church with Rev. Vernon Webb officiating. Family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m., Thursday prior to the service. Family and friends will assemble at 10:00 a.m., Friday, August 31st at the funeral home and proceed to Hiwassee Union Cemetery for the 11:00 a.m. committal service.

Family members and friends will serve as pallbearers.
