James D. "Tater" Green, 91, of Etowah, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, May 15, 2010 at Life Care Center of Athens. A native and lifelong resident of Etowah, he was a son of the late Dave and Daisy Cass Green. He was a World War II Army Veteran, where he received several service medals. He is preceded in death by his parents, listed above; his loving wife, Mary Eva Green; one son, Jimmy Green; one sister and two brothers.

Survivors include one daughter and son-in-law, Kathy and Darrell Ratledge of Etowah, TN; one daughter-in-law, Shirley Green of Etowah, TN; three granddaughters, Teresa Garrison of Etowah, TN, Melissa Freeman of Athens, TN and Amy Ratledge of Knoxville, TN; and three great-grandchildren, Anthony Freeman, Haley Garrison and Cordell Freeman.

Funeral service will be held at 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, May 18, 2010 in the South Chapel with Rev. Doyle Lloyd officiating. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m., prior to the service. Family and friends will assemble at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, May 19, at the funeral home and proceed to Etowah Cemetery for the 11:00 a.m. committal service with military honors.
