James D. Thomas, 90, of Etowah, TN, passed away Thursday, December 26, 2024.

James retired from the United States Army after 24 years of service to his country. He was an avid fisherman and loved camping. His favorite times were spent on the water with his late wife, Susie on their pontoon. James always loved and cared for his family, putting their needs above his own. James always had his signature joke that he shared with everyone he would meet, it went as follows; "How do you get a blindman to sea? By boat."

He was preceded in death by his wife, Susie Ellen Thomas; parents, William and Lena Thomas.

Survivors include his daughter, Debbie Allen of Greenville, TN; son, Randy Thomas of Atlanta, GA; a special nephew, Jeremy Hamm of Etowah, TN; granddaughter, Jennifer Moreno; great-granddaughter, Addy Barnes.

The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Monday, December 30, 2024, in the chapel of Bordwine Funeral Home.

Family and friends will assemble at McMinn Memory Gardens, for a private graveside service.
