J.E. Firestone, 93, of Delano passed away Tuesday, March 18, 2014 at Etowah Health Care Center. A native of Polk County, and son of the late R.E. "Bob" and Vallie McCamish Firestone. He pastored several churches in Polk, McMinn and Bradley Counties; a member of Crossroad Baptist Church in Polk County; member of Ocoee Lodge 212 in Polk County; 32nd degree Mason and Shriner; he served as Trustee for 2 terms in Polk County; and was Associational Missionary of Polk County Association. Preceded in death by his parents and step-mother; son, Jerry Firestone; and brother, Alvin Firestone.
Survivors include his wife of 75 years, Thelma Clark Firestone of Delano; son and daughter-in-law, Don and Geneva Firestone of Calhoun, TN; daughter-in-law, Carolyn Firestone of Sharpsburg, GA; grandchildren, Tim, Robby, David and Kim Firestone and Janet Firestone Brunk; great-grandchildren, Ashley Hobbs Clark, Michael Hobbs, Sam Brunk, Katie Brunk, Phillip, Chance, Abigail, Emma and Audrey Firestone.
Funeral service will be held at 8:00 pm, Friday, March 21, 2014 in the South Chapel of Bordwine Funeral Home with Pastor Benny Thomas officiating.
Family will receive friends from 5:00 to 8:00 pm Friday prior to the service. Family and friends will assemble at 11:00 am Saturday, March 22nd at the funeral home and proceed to Chestuee Baptist Church Cemetery for the 12 noon committal service. Grandsons and great-grandsons will serve as pallbearers, Tim, Robby, David, Chance and Phillip Firestone, Michael Hobbs and Sam Brunk.
