It is with broken hearts that we are announcing the passing of our daddy. We take solace in knowing he is now resting in the sweet arms of Jesus. Jerold Bates, 63, of Benton, TN passed away Tuesday, September 17, 2019.

Preceded in death by his parents, Luke and Carrie Bates; sisters, Billie Carroll and Annette Hooper; brothers, Wilford Bates, Ray Bates, and James "Jimmy" Bates.

Survivors include his daughters, Heather Boles of Cleveland, TN, Melody Bates of Etowah, TN; son, Bryan Bates of Benton TN, grandchildren, Halli Bates, Ashlyn Bates and Hayden Boles; sisters, Doreen Bates of Apex, NC, Kay Woodruff of Sweetwater, TN, and Nina Rowland of Athens, TN; brothers, Mickey Bates of Reliance, TN, Danny Bates of Delano, TN and Ross Bates of Durham, NC; several nieces, nephews and other extended family.

A Funeral service will be held at 12:00 p.m., Saturday, September 21, 2019 in the chapel of Bordwine Funeral Home with Rev. Pete Morgan officiating.

Interment will follow the service to Burchfield Cemetery in Polk County. Family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Saturday prior to the service.

Bryan Bates, Mickey Bates, Jamie Boles, Danny Bates, Charles Adams, special friends and nephews will serve as pallbearers.
