Jerry Ray Brewer, 64, of Delano, was born on December 30, 1946, and was received into Jesus's arms on Thursday, December 1, 2011 at the VA Medical Center in Nashville, TN. He was a lifelong Tennessean and a son of the late Clint and Minnie Brewer. Jerry served his country in the Vietnam War in 1965-1966; serving in "The Big Red One", A Company 2nd Battalion 18th Infantry. He was a life-long member of VFW and Am-Vet's Post 100 and was retired form Bowater maintenance department. He enjoyed fishing, traveling, and spending time with his family. He was preceded in death by his parents, listed above; his 1st wife, Brenda Gail Brewer; two sisters, Ann "Lou Lou" Lowe and Martha Jaynes.Survivors include his wife, Wanda Sue Brewer of Delano, TN; five sons and daughters-in-law, Jerry Ray "J.J."Brewer, Jr., Wayne and Shannon Brewer, Nathan and Tara Brewer, Lee and Gemmi Head, and Ted Paul and Margaret Head; two daughters and sons-in-law, Jenny and Kenny Powers and Patricia Head and Darren Wheeler, 14 grandchildren, Brandon and Amanda, McKenzie, Jackson,Matthew, Zachary, Conner, Wesley, Hannah, Wyatt, Savannah, Katie, and Keith, Roger, Sammi and Jason; two great-grandchildren, Cooper and Summer; two brothers and spouse, Tommy Brewer and Ronnie and Gail Brewer; two sisters and spouse, Betty Baughman and Mary and Mutt Crotts; two special and life-long friends, Bill and Kay Heckelberg.Funeral service will be 3 p.m. Sunday, December 4, 2011 in the chapel of Bordwine Funeral Home with Rev. Eddie Rowland and Rev. Junior Burger officiating. The family will receive friends from 1 to 3 p.m. prior to the service. Family and friends will assemble at Lakeview Cemetery in Lenoir City on Monday, December 5, 2011 for an 11:00 a.m. committal service with military honors. Brandon Cardwell, Zachary Wheeler, Wesley Head, Wyatt Head, Roger Lee, Jason Williams and Keith McGillwill serve as pallbearers.
