Jerry Bruce McMinn, 63, of Etowah, passed away, Tuesday, May 8, 2012, at Blount Memorial Hospital, Maryville, TN.A native of McMinn County and a resident of Etowah, he was a son of the late James and Dema McMinn. He was a member of the Carpenters Local Union 74, East Athens Baptist Church and attended North Etowah Baptist Church and he served his country in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War where he received a Bronze Star. Jerry was a beloved husband, father, uncle, brother, brother-in-law and a good friend to all who knew him. He was preceded in death by his parents, listed above; and three brothers, James Finely, Jimmy Ross and Tommy McMinn. Survivors include his wife, Gloria McMinn of Etowah, TN; one son and fiancée, Bruce McMinn and Sarah Sprague of Etowah, TN; one grandson, Anthony of Etowah, TN; one brother and sister-in-law, E. L. and Anna Ruth McMinn of Cleveland, TN; two sisters, Mary Jo Stafford of Riceville, TN and Jane Smith of Athens, TN; three
sisters-in-law and brother-in-law, Clota Mason of Etowah, TN, Pat and Paul Williams of Etowah, TN and Geraldine McMinn of Athens, TN; and several nieces and nephews. Memorial service will be 8:00 p.m. Saturday, May 12, 2012 in the South Chapel of Bordwine Funeral Home, with Minister Micah Bush officiating. The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 p.m., Saturday prior to the service.
