Jessie Gunter, 94, of Athens, TN passed away Wednesday, May 31, 2023.

Jessie was the oldest member of New Zion Baptist Church. She retired from Athens Hosiery Mill after 50 plus years. In her free time, she enjoyed gardening. She also loved cooking and traveling.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Levi Jasper Gunter; parents, Dicey and Will Williams; father of her children, William Francis Underdown; one grandson, William Stephen; all 13 siblings and their spouses, Lily, Laurie, Richard, Wade, Walter, Hazel, Roy, Ora Mae, Theades, Curtis, Kenneth, Raleigh, and Joy Bell Williams.

She is survived by her two daughters and sons-in-law; Becki Schreck Lowry and Richard Lowry, Janice and Bob Roseberry; five grandchildren and spouses, Amy Schreck Cook, Neely Schreck Ingram, Christopher Ryan Schreck and Liz Thigpen Schreck, Lauren Roseberry Fox and Tony Fox, Jessica Roseberry; five great-grandchildren, Noah Cook, Chance Ingram, Jackson Schreck, Caroline Schreck, Eleanor Fox; sister-in-law and best friend, Lula Jones Williams; several nieces and nephews; other extended family members.

A gathering will be held from 4:00 to 5:00 p.m., Thursday, June 8, 2023 in the chapel of Bordwine Funeral Home. Celebration of life will be held at 5:00 p.m. with Minister Mike Williams officiating.
