Jimmy Lee Bowers, 84, of Englewood, TN, passed away Wednesday, December 4, 2024, after a longtime battle of an auto immune disease.

He was a lifetime resident of McMinn County and a graduate of Englewood High School in 1958 with high honors as the salutatorian of his graduating class. Jimmy served in the U.S. Army from 1958 to 1960 and was stationed in the DMZ (military zone) in South Korea with U.S. duties for two years in the medical division. He was employed by the Athens Table Company and the Combustion Engineer Company of Chattanooga, TN. Jimmy later retired in 2003 from the Aluminum Company of Alcoa, TN after 38 ½ years of employment. He enjoyed a total of twenty plus years of retirement with his wife of 45 years, Joyce Hill Bowers. Together they lived and loved the simple things of life. They enjoyed their evening joyrides and loved viewing the beautiful nature that God created and all of Gods majestic wonders of life. Jimmy loved and cared for his family with all of his heart and will be greatly missed by all of his loved ones and friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Richard Lee and Ruby Cook Bowers; sister, Billie Ruth Poteet Shadden.

Survivors include his wife, Joyce Hill Bowers; niece and husband, Sharon K. Poteet and husband Mike Scoggins; great-niece and husband, Julie and Victor Poteet; great-nephew and wife, Brent and Emily Scoggins; aunt, Eileen Martin Carver; several great-great nieces and nephews; several cousins and extended members of his family.

Per Jimmy's wishes no formal services will be held.
