Jimmy Thurston (Red) Rowland, 74, of Etowah, passed away early Saturday morning, February 27, 2010 at Athens Regional Medical Center in Athens, TN A native of McMinn County and a resident of Etowah, he was a son of the late Lester and Vesta Jenkins Rowland. He was of the Baptist faith, a veteran of the U.S. Army and retired from Bowater Southern Paper Corporation. He is preceded in death by his parents, listed above; one brother, Willard Rowland and one sister Lois Rowland Green. Survivors include wife, Charlene Rowland of Etowah, TN; two daughters, Janice Rowland and Kim Rowland; special nieces, Sandra Liner and Renee Keith; mother-in-law, Viola Davis; special friends, Michelle and Kayla Cox and long-time friends, Lawrence Taylor, Lebron Lawson and Duane Holtz. Graveside service will be held at 4:00 p.m. Monday, March 1, 2010 at Green Hill Cemetery. No formal visitation will be held.
