Obituary

John Seaton peacefully passed away at his home on Thursday, February 15, 2018. He was 78 years old. John was born on March 30, 1939, to Paul Revere and Mary Nolan Seaton. He was a lifelong resident of McMinn County.

John is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Joan Crittenden Seaton; his two sons and wives, Mark Nolan (Laura) and Gregory Scott (Nancy) Seaton; five grandchildren, David Nolan (Sydney) of Athens, Hannah Kathleen of Cookeville, Rachel Caroline and Katie Elizabeth of Ooltewah, and Gigi Crittenden of Lookout Mountain; sister-in-law, Faye Songer of Cleveland and Abby Songer of Savannah, GA; one brother, Paul Ray Seaton of Riceville.

John was a member of Wesleyanna United Methodist Church. He graduated from McMinn County High School and attended Tennessee Wesleyan College before serving in the U.S. Army, where he was stationed in Germany. John never met a stranger and always left an impression upon those he met. His passing leaves a huge void in the lives of his family and friends. He and his wife traveled extensively in the states and abroad. He was an avid outdoorsman.

The family wishes to thank his good friends Harold Coffey and Linford Bull for their support during his illness. There are many personal and business friends who enriched his life.

Serving as pallbearers are David Nolan Seaton, William Vestal, Eric Cross, Clarence Robertson, Mike Ray, Rex Wilson, Mack Morgan, Ben Boggess, and Patrick Priest. Honorary pallbearers are Harold Coffey, Linford Bull, Frank Farner, and Walter Harris.

At John's request, there will be a graveside service at Wesleyanna United Methodist Church Cemetery with the Rev. John Crabtree officiating. The service will be Saturday, February 17, at 2:00 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to Wesleyanna United Methodist Church or Shriners Hospital.
