Friday, October 6, 2017 Johnny Eldon Coe of Delano, Tennessee, age 69, went to be with the Lord. He faithfully attended Friendship Baptist Church where he served as a deacon and piano player. Johnny loved gospel music and was an accomplished song writer. He was a graduate of Polk County High School and Tennessee Wesleyan College with a Master's Degree in Education. Johnny was an educator for 34 years at Delano School, Benton Elementary School, Polk County High School, and Bagley Middle School. He was known to his colleagues and students as a dedicated teacher and friend who were always ready with a joke to brighten your day. Johnny was preceded in death by his father and mother, Ulysses Ray and Juanita Rogers Coe, and his grandparents Tom and Ida Rogers and John and Willie Coe.
Survivors include his sister, Annette Fugate; brother-in-law, Phillip Fugate; nieces, Melissa Fugate and Amanda Sterwerf; grand-nephew, August Ulysses Tuggle; uncle and aunt, Ray and Hazel Stone and several cousins. Johnny's family would like to extend a special thanks to Dr. Samuel Olsen II, M.D. and the staff of Etowah Health Care.
Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, October 10 at Friendship Baptist Church. Family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m., Monday, October 9, 2017 in the chapel of Bordwine Funeral Home. Interment will follow the service Tuesday at Friendship Church Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Alzheimer's Association, 7625 Hamilton Drive Suite 22 Chattanooga, TN 37421.
