Johnny Bob Stewart, 80, of Etowah passed away Monday, April 28, 2014 at Tennova Healthcare in West Knoxville. He was the son of the late H.G. and Pearl Searcy Stewart. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy during the Korean War and retired from the CSX Railroad. In 1983 he was inducted into the Etowah High School Sports Hall of Fame as a baseball and basketball player. He is preceded in death by his first wife Brenda Simpson and his second wife Mary Sue Stewart .
Survivors include sons and daughter-in-law, Dennis Craig Stewart of Etowah, Greg and Maureen Hood of Kinosh, WI, and Michael Hood of Etowah, TN; Daughters and sons-in-law, Jessica Colyn Stewart wife of John Martin of Norfolk, Virginia, Kay and Steve Blair of Etowah, Melissa and Russell Williams of Etowah; granddaughters, Ione, Kirsten, Gwyneth and Jillian Martin of Norfolk; niece, Linda Stewart, wife of Dennis Bordwine; nephews, Steve Stewart and wife Cathy of Smyrna, TN, Larry Stewart and wife Evelyn of Roanoke, Alabama.
Graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, May 1, 2014 at Green Hill Cemetery with Speaker Dennis Bordwine officiating. No formal visitation will be held.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, c/o Faye Forgety, 120 Co. Rd. 447, Athens, TN 37303.
