Joy Leonard Cooper, 87, of Athens, TN passed away on Tuesday, April, 27, 2021.  She passed peacefully, with her children at her side.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Virlon Cooper, her granddaughter, Rachel Danielle Cooper, her father, Stanton Leonard, and her mother Lester Leonard.

Joy is survived by her sister, Helen Crockett of Etowah, TN; brother and sister-in-law, Robert and Deanie Leonard of Tallahassee, FL;  close cousin, Agness Eaton of Etowah, TN; daughter and son-in-law, Debra and Tony Carter, of Dalton, GA; son and daughter-in-law, Dan and Darline Cooper, of Cleveland, TN; granddaughters and sons-in-law, Gina and Jeremy Headrick of Jefferson, GA, Julie and Scott Moody of Rome, GA, Lorna Cooper of Cleveland, TN; step-grandson, Joshua Kelley of Cleveland, TN; great-granddaughters, Jewel Hambright, Kodiak Caddel, and Loralei Caddel.

A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, April 30, 2021 in McMinn Memory Gardens with son, Dan Cooper and Pastor Brad Brown officiating.

No formal visitation will be held.
