Joyce E. Shell, 80, of Etowah, passed away, Monday, January 28, 2013, at Woods Memorial Hospital. She was a member of Carlock United Methodist Church and was retired from McDonalds and Scotties-grand lunch. A daughter of the late Will and Tempie Shell, she was preceded in death by her parents, listed above; one brother, Buster Shell; one sister, Edna Jones; two great-nieces, Lesia Walker and Robin Cherry; and one great-nephew, Kenny Cherry. Survivors include one sister, Lillie Cherry; one sister-in-law, Mary Lou Shell; two nieces and husband, Gail and Tony Land and Linda Shell; four nephews and spouses, Bill and Sue Cherry, Mike and Mary Cherry, Jerry and Deena Shell, and Larry Cherry; one great-nephew and spouse, Tony Jr. and April Land;two great-great-nephews, Ethan and Nona Land; several other nieces and nephews; and special friends, Tammie Thompson and Steve and Carolyn Knox.Funeral service will be 7:00 p.m. Friday, February 1, 2013 in the South Chapel of Bordwine Funeral Home with Rev. Jason Crandall officiating. The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m., Friday, prior to the service. Family and friends will assemble at the funeral home at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, February 2nd and proceed to Mars Hill Cemetery for the 11:00 a.m., committal service.
