J.R. Cooper, 95, a lifelong resident of Etowah, TN, passed away Friday, March 27, 2020.

He is preceded in death by his parents, James Robert and Cora Cooper.

He is survived by his loving wife, Edythe Cooper; daughter, Patricia Cooper Nelson(Stephen); grandchildren, Amber Nelson Holland(Chris), John Stephen Nelson(Amber); great grandchildren, Emily Holland, Andrew Holland, Adelyn Nelson, and Brantley Nelson.

He was a letter carrier for the Etowah Post Office for many years. He was an active member of the American Legion local post and an active member of North Etowah Baptist Church for over 70 years. He also loved to fish and hunt.

Due to the COVID-19 regulations, set by the CDC, of no more than 10 people gathering at a time, the family will have a private graveside service at Conasauga Cemetery on Tuesday, March 31, 2020 with Rev. John Nelson and Dennis Bordwine officiating.
