Julia Marie Benson, 93, of Etowah, died Friday, June 4, 2010 at Etowah Health Care Center. A native and lifelong resident of McMinn County, she was a daughter of the late Jerome Auther and Sarah Elizabeth Bryan Young. She was a member of Brookhill Baptist Church, and had worked in the lunchroom at Mt. View Elementary School. She was preceded in death by her husband, George Daily Benson; three sisters, Vady Jane Young, Sadie Ann Young Davis, and Nancy Elizabeth Carroll; three brothers, Walter Romie Young, Vester McKinley Young and Clark Winson Young; and an infant brother who died at birth. Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, Curtis and Jean Benson of Delano, and George C. and Charlotte Benson of Gallatin; five grandchildren and spouses, George Michael and Lanore Benson of Hattiesburg, MS, Lisa Carol and Steven Dodson of Brighton, Denise and Wendell Wilbanks of Cleveland, Robbie Benson of Etowah and James Benson of Chattanooga; 6 great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and other relatives. A graveside service will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, June 7, 2010 at New Bethel Cemetery with Brother Danny Moore officiating.
The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. Sunday, June 6th at the funeral home.
