Karine Evelyn Manis, 87, of Riceville, died Wednesday, September 22, 2010 at Life Care Center of Athens. A native and lifelong resident of McMinn County living in Riceville and Etowah., she was a daughter of the late F.T. "Mooney" and Mae Breeden Tallent. She was an member of Calvary Baptist Church, and worked as a dietician at Etowah Health Care and Woods Memorial Hospital. She was preceded in death by her husband, Marvin G. Manis; and a son, Jackie Lynn Manis.

Survivors include one son, Gerald and Karen Manis of Riceville; four daughters, Brenda Manis of Etowah, Nancy Woody of Delano, Betty and Mike Huckabey of Charleston and Margaret Derrick and Tim Underwood of Athens, TN; 2 sisters, Margaret Morrow of Riceville and Elizabeth Boyd of Murfreesboro, TN; 8 grandchildren, Dana and Judy Woody, Chrissy and Michelle Manis, Rachael McRae, Michael Derrick, Chelsea Huckabey and Brian Armstrong; several great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, September 25, 2010 at Riceville Cemetery with the Rev. Benny Thomas officiating. No formal visitation will be held.
