Obituary

Lawrence Edwin Wilson, age 90, a long-time businessman and civic leader of Etowah, passed away on January 6, 2026, at his home. He was the former President of Arnav Industries with garment production facilities in several locations and later the owner of M. Johnston factory Outlet in Etowah for many years with customers from all over the country. He was active in city youth athletics and instrumental in developing methods for the deaf to communicate electronically well before computers, email or texting were available. He was proud to be a Shriner and Past Master of Etowah Masonic Lodge 653 where he was a loyal member for over 60 years and was its oldest living member. He attended the Claxton School and Etowah High School.

Born October 9, 1935, he was preceded by his wife, Mary Nadean (Johnson) Wilson and his parents, Lawrence Earl Wilson and Mary Lou (Coe) Wilson.

The remaining family includes his sons and daughters-in-law, Eddie D. and Donna Wilson of Madison, AL, Christopher M. and Jenne Wilson of Charleston, TN, and D. Keith Wilson of Nashville, TN; grandchildren include, Charity Wilson (Scott) of Lenoir City, TN, Elisapeth Keener (Tim) of Fort Benning, GA, Jacob of Fort Myers, FL, Abigail Helton (Michael) of Madison, AL, Forest Johnson (Jared) of Morristown, TN, Taryn Smith (Justin); one great-grandchild, Griffin Keener as well as a special niece, Barabra (Coleman) Moses.

Dad was the last survivor among his generation of friends and Masonic Lodge brothers.

A masonic service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, January 11th in the chapel of Bordwine Funeral Home.

The family will receive friends from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m., Sunday prior to the service.

A graveside service will follow the service in Green Hill Cemetery with Pastor Justin Worden of Spirit City Church North Etowah officiating.

The family would like to extend their thanks to Bordwine Funeral Home, Etowah fire and emergency Services as well as all the ladies at the Farmhouse restaurant who doted over him.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to your favorite charity, church or Etowah Masonic Lodge 653.
